The Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Department Maritime Administration hosted its Third Annual World Maritime Day Essay Competition to commemorate World Maritime Day on 28th September 2023 under the theme “MARPOL AT 50 – Our commitment goes on”. The theme highlights the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships (MARPOL).

November 5, 2023 is commemorated all around the world, as “World Tsunami Awareness Day” (WTAD). This is being done  annually to raise public awareness of the deadly threat posed by tsunamis and to share innovative approaches to reducing risk. 

Unstable conditions associated with a trough system is expected to affect the Southern Windward Islands including Saint Vincent and the Grenadines from tonight with activity lingering over the next few days.

As part of the April 2021 volcanic eruptions recovery efforts, the Economic Planning Division (Ministry of Finance, Economic Planning and Information Technology) and the Forestry Department (Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Fisheries, Rural Transformation, Industry and Labour) are collaborating on a programme that will focus on forest biodiversity conservation and watershed management – targeting the northern forested areas of Saint Vincent.

Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation, Sustainable Development and Culture, the Honourable Carlos James and Minister of Urban Development, Sea Ports, Local Government and Grenadine Affairs, Senator the Honourable Benarva Browne, are part of a delegation from four Latin American and Caribbean ‘Formosa Club’ countries, on an official visit to Taiwan.
