The Office of the Governor-General is located in – and often referred to as – Government House.

It is responsible for:

• The provision of official services to the Governor-General and his/her household
• The provision of official services to government agencies and organisations
• Arranging the Governor-General’s official activities at home and overseas
• The Governor-General’s correspondence
• Liaising with Buckingham Palace on honours, awards and diplomatic credentials
• Liaising with the Office of the Prime Minister on all honours and awards
• Administrative arrangements for conferment of honours and awards
