The Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Nine Mornings committee held its annual prize-giving ceremony at the Peace Memorial Hall on Saturday 6th January bringing the curtains down on the 2017 Nine Mornings Festival.

Winners in the various categories of the Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Nine Mornings Festival received their prizes on Saturday 6th January at the Peace Memorial Hall.

Prime Minister Gonsalves also made the following announcements: the budgetary estimates are scheduled for Monday 29th January and the Budget Address by the Minister of Finance, Hon. Camillo Gonsalves, on Monday 5th February; the extension of duty free concessions on Christmas barrels to 15th January; the appointment of several graduate teachers; the visit of Taiwan’s Foreign Minister, Dr. David Lee, on Thursday, 1st February; the Government’s interest in medical marijuana; the country’s bid for a seat at the United Nations Security Council, and other diplomatic affairs; and the upcoming first anniversary of the Argyle International Airport.

Prime Minister, Hon. Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, outlined the 2017 fiscal performance of the Government at a press conference on Tuesday, 2nd January, as a precursor to the budgetary estimates scheduled for Monday, 29th January.

Prime Minister, Hon. Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, at a press conference on Tuesday 2nd January, stated that he has written to the CARICOM Secretary General “to have on the agenda a number of items which concerns Saint Vincent and the Grenadines” and Trinidad and Tobago. Dr. Gonsalves disclosed that he has written to the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago on “issues between us, which would be raised at CARICOM”.
