Welcome to the official website of the Government of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

International Nurses Day is celebrated around the world every May 12th, the anniversary of Florence Nightingale's birth.

The International Council of Nurses (ICN), the global voice of nursing, has designated this year’s theme as "Nurses a voice to lead, Health is a Human Right".

The Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment, through the initiative of the Chief Nursing Officer, Ms. Peggy Da Silva, will join with the rest of the world in celebrating this event. As such, we will be hosting a showcase at the site of the Old Treasury Building next to the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment, on Friday the 11th May, 2018, between the hours of 10:00am and 3:00pm.

The main aim of this activity is to sensitize the general public about the contribution of Nursing and Midwifery and its potential in achieving Universal Access to health care and Universal Health Coverage in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

The showcase will feature several specialties from the following five (5) areas within Nursing Service:

  • Hospital Services
  • Community Services
  • Mental Health services
  • Nursing Education (SVGCC Division of Nursing Education)
  • Associations (SVG Nurses Association, SVG Retired Nurses Associations, SVG General Nursing Council, and the SVG Diabetic and hypertensive Association)

Free Services such as foot care, audiological, blood pressure and blood sugar screening, and assessment for anxiety and depression, among others, will be offered.
Your kind support is solicited and as such a kind invitation is extended to all to attend and to utilize our free services offered as we commemorate this very important day.
