The Ministry of External Affairs – Foreign Service Institute in New Delhi, India, hosted a special two-week course for diplomats from within the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).

The course commenced on Monday 13th November, and continued to Friday 24th November. The programme was in keeping with the vision of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Commerce, to nurture and develop a professional, innovative and responsive public service organisation, which promotes an effective foreign and trade policy, and a sustainable knowledge economy.

During the two-week period, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines was represented by Ms. Tamira Browne and Ms. Khalila Roache, from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Commerce. There were 10 other CARICOM countries represented: Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Saint Lucia, Saint Kitts and Nevis, and Suriname. Officials from the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States and the Caribbean Community were also present to participate in the two-week course.

The diplomats were exposed to various aspects of India’s Foreign Policy, expertise on bilateral and multilateral arrangements, and a range of institutions that support the fulfillment of foreign policy agendas.


The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Commerce will continue to work towards deepening and widening regional and international alliances to promote national interest.
