An official opening ceremony to mark the commencement of the Logos Hope's 9th visit to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, was held this morning, Tuesday 21st November, aboard the ship. Click link to view video of the opening ceremony

The Master of Ceremonies and journalist for the ship, welcomed all aboard. The visit is expected to run from Tuesday 21st November to Sunday 3rd December. This is the 11th visit of the Logos to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. It is known as the world's largest floating book fair.

 Bringing Knowledge, Help and Hope is the ship's major focus, as it travels from port to port, and from country to country. Logos Hope is supported by generous people worldwide.

On board the vessel is 400 volunteers, representing over 45 different countries. Over 5000 book titles are available. There are titles ranging from educational to spiritual, from children to adults. The volunteers are not only selling books, but are also engaged in various projects, such as painting, visits to hospitals, and to provide help in other humanitarian ways.

The ship’s opening hours are:

• Tuesday - Saturday: 10:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m.
• Sundays: 2:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
• Mondays: closed

Some members of the crew were introduced to the audience aboard the vessel. Among them were the Managing Director, Mr. Phil-Hun Park; and Captain Samuel Hils.

The captain noted that they are excited as they explore new countries. He indicated that volunteer members will visit the Grenadines.

Also present at the opening ceremony was Acting Prime Minister, Hon. Sir Louis Straker, who reminded the gathering that, "books are light houses erected in the great sea of time". He also encouraged the audience to, not only be "informed, but to reformed," using the information gathered from books.

The cutting of the ribbon was done by Hon. Sir Louis Straker to declare the world’s largest floating book fair officially opened.
