Welcome to the official website of the Government of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

The National Parks, Rivers and Beaches Authority (NPRBA) has successfully concluded the third edition of its Conservation Guardians Summer Camp, held from 3rd – 7th August 2026 under the theme, “Biodiversity Quest: Explore • Protect • Inspire.”

The week-long initiative engaged 55 children, aged 8 to 12, in a structured programme designed to deepen their understanding of biodiversity, ecosystems, habitats, forest protection, and the shared responsibility to conserve Saint Vincent and the Grenadines’ natural heritage.

The camp was implemented under the project, Strengthening Management Effectiveness and Public Awareness within Key Biodiversity Areas of the Central Mountain Range, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, with funding from the Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) through the Caribbean Natural Resources Institute (CANARI).

Throughout the programme, participants explored the importance of the country’s key biodiversity areas, including the Cumberland, Colonarie, Dalaway/Buccament, and Richmond Forest Reserves. Kings Hill Forest Reserve was also incorporated into the camp’s activities, further broadening participants’ appreciation of the country’s protected natural spaces.

Campers participated in interactive educational sessions, team-building activities, biodiversity games, ecosystem-building exercises, conservation-themed crafts, creative performances, and a biodiversity hike along the Vermont Nature Trail. These activities promoted learning through participation while encouraging creativity, cooperation and environmental stewardship.

The graduation ceremony, held on Friday, 7th August 2026, formally brought the camp to a close. The ceremony recognised the participation and achievements of the young Conservation Guardians and reaffirmed the importance of empowering young people to become informed and responsible advocates for biodiversity conservation.

The NPRBA expresses sincere appreciation to CANARI and CEPF for their invaluable support, as well as to the Sustainable Development Unit, Forestry Department, facilitators, volunteers, parents, guardians, and all other partners whose contributions ensured the successful delivery of the programme.

The Authority remains committed to advancing environmental education and public awareness, particularly among young people, as part of its ongoing efforts to safeguard the parks, rivers, beaches, forests, and biodiversity of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
