Citizens of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and especially our dynamic and resilient young people, Happy International Youth Day 2026.
Today, we celebrate your energy, your creativity, your courage and your limitless potential. This year's theme, “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations,” reminds us that although our circumstances may differ, young people share common dreams: a quality education, meaningful employment, opportunity, respect, and a chance to build a better future.
As Minister of Youth, I want our young people to know one thing clearly: we see you, we hear you, and we are committed to creating opportunities for you to succeed.
Our focus is action. We are strengthening skills training and TVET, expanding opportunities in sports and the creative industries, supporting youth entrepreneurship, and working to ensure no young person is left behind.
Importantly, we are also re-establishing the National Youth Council and developing a new National Youth Policy because decisions about our young people must not simply be made for young people; they must be made with you. Your voice matters. Your ideas matter. You deserve a seat at the table.
Later this year, we will also dedicate an entire month to youth, filled with activities designed to celebrate, empower, and engage young people throughout Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
To every young person, I say: dream big, believe in yourself, develop your talents, and seize every opportunity before you. Never allow the size of our country to determine the size of your ambition.
We may be a small nation, but there is nothing small about the potential of Vincentian youth.
Together, let us build a country where every young person has the opportunity not merely to dream, but to achieve, lead and thrive.
Happy International Youth Day 2026.
Thank you, and may God bless the youth and the people of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
