Welcome to the official website of the Government of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

The Hon. Conroy Huggins, Minister of Fisheries, Marine and Land Conservation, Climate Resilience, and Area Representative for Central Leeward, joined family members in celebrating the 103rd  birthday of Mrs. Carmina Hinds of Layou during a special visit on Tuesday, 30th June, 2026.

Minister Huggins extended warm birthday greetings to Mrs. Hinds on behalf of the Government and people of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, recognizing her remarkable achievements and her contribution to the Layou community over the years.

During the visit, the Minister noted that Mrs. Hinds is the oldest known resident of Layou and is believed to be the oldest living person in the Central Leeward constituency. He congratulated her on reaching this extraordinary milestone and wished her continued good health, happiness, and God’s richest blessings. He also extended best wishes to her family as they celebrated the occasion.

Mrs. Hinds expressed heartfelt gratitude to God for His continued blessings and for allowing her to celebrate her 103rd birthday. She shared that she remains independent in many of her daily activities and thanked her daughter for the dedicated care, love, and support she provides.

Mrs. Samuel, Mrs. Hinds’ daughter, reflected on her mother’s unwavering commitment to raising her children with love and care. She encouraged families to cherish their parents and to care for them with the same devotion they received while growing up.

The visit served as a fitting tribute to Mrs. Hinds’ resilience, longevity, and the invaluable role that senior citizens continue to play in the nation’s communities.
