Welcome to the official website of the Government of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

Young authors from the Barrouallie Government School took centre stage on Friday, May 29th, 2026, during a special book exhibition and reading event at Coreas City Store and Pharmacy, where they showcased their published collection 'Little Pens, Big Dreams: Stories and Poems from the Barrouallie Government School Young Authors.'

The event highlighted the students’ creativity, writing skills, and literary achievements while providing a platform for them to share their work with the wider community. Student authors read selections from the book, which contains a collection of original poems and stories written by the children.

Since its publication in January, more than 100 copies of the book have already been sold. The school’s librarian and event coordinator, Kylie Williams, welcomed patrons and supporters while introducing the young authors, noting that the initiative aims to encourage literacy, creativity, and confidence among students.

Manager of Coreas Pharmacies Limited, Jean Johnny Findlay, praised the students for their creativity and dedication after reading through several pieces from the publication. “I had the opportunity to read through most of the poems, and they are exciting. I’m really impressed with the work done by these little ones,” Findlay said. “I encourage everyone to come and purchase a book and support them.”

Among the featured readers was student author Romella Brown, who shared her poem 'My Favourite Fruits', delighting listeners with colorful imagery and appreciation for nature’s sweetness. Another young author, Helena Samuel, entertained the audience with her story, 'The Class Pet', a playful tale about a classroom cat named Snowball and the adventures surrounding the beloved animal.

The exhibition provided members of the public with an opportunity to meet the young authors, purchase signed copies of the book, and celebrate the students’ literary accomplishments.

The event also highlighted the Barrouallie Government School’s ongoing commitment to fostering literacy and creative expression through programmes that nurture young talent, build confidence, and inspire the next generation of writers and authors.
