BRAGSA’s CEO, Kem Bartholomew, said the entity will work towards rebuilding the Questelles Government School with reconstruction work expected to be completed in three months. Bartholomew said preliminary assessment indicates that while the roof, which was made of timber was completely destroyed by the fire, the “front facade which is predominantly a stone wall structure is in good tact.”
He said the clean-up work has begun and efforts will be made to maintain the historic context of the building while building back better. He said BRAGSA has already started preliminary designs, but a thorough assessment will be done once the cleaning of the facility is completed in order to create an improved structure.
He said the organisation will work with the Ministry of Education to provide an environment which is safe and conducive for learning. On the afternoon of Monday, 29th December, 2025, fire engulfed a section of the school destroying classrooms for Grades 3 and 4, the school auditorium, and the kitchen/school feeding area.
