Speaking on radio on Monday, September 8, Minister of Finance, Hon. Camillo Gonsalves, says the official signing and turning of the sod for Sandals Beaches and the Marriot Resort is expected to take place soon.
These investments are expected to yield approximately two (2) thousand jobs in that sector and position this country as a leading tourism destination.
“Together those two investments would represent over 1.3 billion dollars on the leeward coast and hotel development…. they will represent about 2 thousand jobs in the hospitality space, Sandals is expanding, they have already started building new villas and they plan to go from 300 rooms to 500 rooms at the Sandals resort at Buccament… the Beaches resort, they are going to start with 375 rooms and going to build out to 600 rooms at that facility, that leeward coast is going to be the epicentre of high-end mass tourism in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and it’s going to be one of the most exciting tourism strips in the Caribbean,” Minister Gonsalves said.
