When Government constructs the two new secondary schools at Orange Hill and Brighton, Minister of Finance Hon. Camillo Gonsalves promises that they will represent the continuation of the education revolution, a revolution focused on an expanding curriculum and inclusion.
“…the evolution of the classroom experience has been incremental to date, and what we are trying to do now is go beyond an incremental advancement, to a radical and transformative advancement in the classroom experience for students,” the Minister explained.
Minister Gonsalves noted that the school at Brighton will have a heavy focus on Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and the Arts mainly music. The school will be constructed to accommodate approximately 500 students, and built to climate resilient specifications.
“The classrooms… will be equipped with modern audio-visual systems, accessible furniture and classrooms that are spacious to provide opportunity for improvement in the curriculum, the facility will also include a library, laboratories, TVET, science, culinary arts and computer, sickbay, a gym, showers, a music studio, an agricultural plot, storage rooms and parking, the TVET facility will also serve the surrounding communities,” Minister Gonsalves said. The Minister added it is hoped the school will become a “magnet for students interested in TVET and music”.
