The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Coast Guard Service launched their annual youth development summer program on Monday, July 14th, 2025 at the Calliaqua Town Hall.

The theme for this year’s program is ‘Shaping our Youths for Life's High Seas'. The Coast Guard Services says the aim of the program is to help the young participants learn to navigate the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead; with confidence, responsibility and resilience.

Fifty (50) Participants will take part in workshops, and courses designed to equip them with essential life skills. These include First Aid skills; Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR); Fundamentals of Maritime Navigation; Boat Handling; Fisheries Conservation; Human Sexuality Education; Conflict Resolution workshops; and Professional Etiquette sessions.

Petty Officer Sasha Martin of the St. Vincent Coast Guard services said the participants are expected to uphold a high standard of discipline, respect and responsibility throughout the program.

This year's summer program is sponsored by the Bank of St. Vincent and the Grenadines (BOSVG), Sagicor Life and the SVG Port Authority.

The Bank of St Vincent and the Grenadines (BOSVG) made a donation of six thousand dollars ($6,000.00) to the Coast Guard Youth Development Summer Programme while the SVG Port Authority contributed three thousand ($3,000) thousand dollars.
