A supplementary Appropriation Bill will be tabled in Parliament on Thursday, July 18th, as the Government seeks for the approval of funds in response to the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl.
Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves said it will be a number close to 140 million dollars. “…Many of the existing programmes in the current budget, we will use resources there, in a manner which is reflective of the challenge which we are facing consequence of Beryl,” Dr. Gonsalves said.
The Prime Minister said there is a 30 million dollar existing housing budget, the bulk of which will be directed throughout the red zone from those affected by the volcanic eruption of 2021 and also, those whose homes are now severely damaged or their houses devastated from the hurricane.
Hurricane Beryl wreaked havoc on the Southern Grenadines, where close to 95 percent of homes were destroyed and there were six reported deaths.
