Welcome to the official website of the Government of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

The “Promoting Youth Micro Enterprise” (PRYME) program continues to positively impact the lives of young Vincentians.

This was further realized with the official opening of a Community Empowerment Zone (CEZ) in Glen, on Monday, 25th September, 2023, to house PRYME beneficiaries, at an estimated construction cost of Five Hundred Thousand Dollars (XCD 500,000.00).

During the ceremony Parliamentary Representative for East St. George Hon. Camillo Gonsalves said the need became apparent as PRYME recipients, though having obtained new equipment to ply their trade, lacked proper facilities to do so. The Minister said "the decision was taken to provide locations for people who have a good idea and people who have demonstrated a hard work ethic."

Referred to as “the Shops at Glen”, the facility boasts six spacious units where the entrepreneurs can ply their trade. The occupants are only required to pay a fee of five dollars (XCD 5.00) per month. In addition to the six units Minister Gonsalves said plans are afoot to provide ten commercial spaces by way of specially designed kiosks adjacent to the new facility.

Speaking on other PRYME initiatives that are expected to come on stream soon, Minister Gonsalves outlined that a new “PRYME RIDES” project will be opened to applicants who wish to receive mobile enterprise units, or motorized commercial vehicles, that were obtained previously from friendly governments and recommissioned for this purpose.

The Minister also referred to a commercial development project, currently under construction at Buccament Bay, which is expected to complement the opening of the New Sandals Resort next year.
