The Levi Latham Health Centre held a health fair to commemorate “Vaccination Week in the Americas," on Wednesday 27th April 2022. The Fair was held under the theme “Are you fully vaccinated? Get all your shots.”

Area Representative and Minister of Health, Wellness and the Environment, Hon St. Clair “Jimmy” Prince; expressed how pleased he was that the district health centre held the health fair focusing on an important aspect of public health which is vaccination.

Minister Prince went on to add that vaccines have saved millions of lives through its effectiveness, and he doesn’t want the public to misunderstand that vaccination week is only about COVID-19 vaccines, but all vaccines in general are celebrated, and the health fair is to bring more awareness of such.

The Health Minister encouraged the public to continue to adhere to all health protocols for COVID-19, because the country is still going through a pandemic, and to get vaccinated.

The Pan Americas Health Organization’s representative, Ms. Nicole Liburd, stated that the vaccination week was born in 2002, by the health ministers in the Americas, and that vaccines have proven effective in dealing with diseases such as poliomyelitis, commonly called polio and measles.

Sister Arlene James of the Levi Latham Health Centre showed her appreciation to former health workers from the Marriaqua district by presenting them with bouquets and fruit plates among other things. Visitors at the fair were greeted with music and was invited to view the various stalls.
