Close to five hundred (500) residents of Chateaubelair and Fitzhughes are scheduled to return to their homes Friday, 23rd July, 2021, after months of residing in various shelters due to the eruptions in April of the La Soufriere Volcano.

Addressing the issue on NBC Radio on Wednesday, 21st July, 2021, Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves said however, that some residents from those areas with children who would be sitting the CPEA examination on July 27th and 28th would be allowed to remain until July 29th to avoid disruptions in the lives of the children prior to the exams.

The return of these residents will see the closure of additional shelters, further reducing the number of shelters that remain open.
