More than 100 local traditional cannabis cultivators benefited from training in best practices cultivation on Tuesday, 18th February, 2020, as the Medicinal Cannabis Authority (MCA) continues to ensure that this group of investors stay ahead of the game, and are better placed to benefit from the licit production of medicinal cannabis in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

The training came on the heels of similar activities for the local medical fraternity and staff. Tuesday’s training focused on best practices in medicinal cannabis cultivation, record keeping and traceability. It was facilitated by Vice President of Accounts and Education at Ample Organics, Tom Ritchie. Ample Organics is a leading provider of cannabis solutions including Canada’s seed-to-sale software platform. The MCA has entered into a contract with the company in respect to having our own seed-to-sale software platform.

A presentation on the procedures for establishing a bank account for licensed traditional cultivators and employees was also part of Tuesday’s agenda. The session also heard from Minister of Agriculture, etc., Hon. Saboto Caesar and Chief Executive Officer - MCA, Dr. Jerrol Thompson.

Additionally, twenty-three (23) staff members of MCA have successfully completed their online 'AmpleLearn' course and are now Teal Certified. This course covered the functionalities and practical application of a seed-to-sale system encompassing the following modules: grow, products, client services (patient access), report, and wholesale of medicinal cannabis. The Teal certificates were presented by Ample’s representative, Tom Ritchie.
Traditional cultivators also received certificates on completion of their training. The event was held at the Methodist Church Hall in Kingstown.
