Welcome to the official website of the Government of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

The government of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG), has completed the rehabilitation of the Learning Resource Center in Ashton, Union Island.

The works, which included the installation of hurricane shutters, upgrades to the rest rooms and external drainage; commenced on 30th May 2016, and ended on 16th December 2016. The building now meets the emergency shelter standards of the National Emergency Management Organisation.

Mac Construction Inc. executed the construction at a cost of some XCD 400,000. The works forms part of Government’s priority investments to reduce the country’s physical and economic vulnerability to adverse natural events, through building resilience to current and future climatic changes.

The works was funded by the Government through a loan from the World Bank, and is one of the activities being implemented through the Regional Disaster Vulnerability Reduction Project (RDVRP). The project is supporting SVG’s efforts to prevent and adapt to the effects of climate change, strengthen hazard and risk evaluation, and improve decision making.
