In Saint Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG), in 2025, estimated fish landings rebounded to approximately 1.93 million pounds, valued at over EC$16.3 million, representing growth over 2024, which stood at 1.7 million pounds at EC$14.7 million.
A new climate resilience initiative is being rolled out in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines to equip students with practical environmental skills while strengthening community sustainability and climate adaptation efforts.
The Unleashing of the Blue Economy of the Caribbean (UBEC) project, supported by the World Bank, is playing a key role in upgrading and strengthening Saint Vincent and the Grenadines’ fisheries and aquaculture sector.
Minister of Fisheries, Marine and Land Conservation and Climate Resilience, Hon. Conroy Huggins, is urging Vincentians to protect the country’s marine resources, reminding citizens that while the ocean has sustained generations, safeguarding it remains a shared responsibility: “… we must also shoulder the responsibility of protecting it for future generations.”
The government of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is expanding its housing recovery and resilience programme with the delivery of prefabricated homes to vulnerable families, as efforts continue to support those affected by Hurricane Beryl and other natural disasters.
