In the interest of public health and environmental protection Saint Vincent and the Grenadines implemented a ban on the importation of styrofoam products used for sale or storage of food on 1st May, 2017.

Any person, business or organisation that fails to comply with the ban is guilty of an offence and is liable on summary conviction to a fine of $5,000.00 or imprisonment of 12 months or both.

A Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday 23rd January, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs conference room at 2:30 p.m. with all stakeholders, including importers, distributors and food outlets, to discuss any issues emanating from the ban.

Please note that biodegrable containers, that can be used as substitutes, have been zero-rated to ensure that they are more affordable for consumers.
