The Centre for Enterprise Development Inc. (CED) will roll out its 2019 training programme with a Micro Business Simulation Workshop next month.

The workshop takes place February 18 to 26 and will introduce the Board of Directors, members and past members of VincyKlus Inc. to the “Micro Business Game” (MBG) as a new tool that will help to improve their financial knowledge.

The “Micro Business Game” is a highly interactive training for micro-entrepreneurs and others, focused on how the success and sustainability of start-ups and small businesses can be improved in a practical manner. The overall objective of the Micro Business Game is to experience how to manage a microbusiness effectively, using an experience-based approach.

CED will conduct the workshop as part of the Savings Banks Foundation for International Cooperation’s (SBFIC)/Eastern Caribbean Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) endorsed project to support the strengthening of the financial sector and improvement of access to financial services in the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union (ECCU) by Small and Medium Enterprises (SME’s). The workshop will take place 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the BNTF Conference Room.

CED Training & Education Coordinator, Miss Keisha Phillips, says participants in this simulation workshop will learn the crucial principles of managing a business and how to deal with possible challenges and opportunities. “The Business Game is an innovative, interactive learning experience that takes away from dry theory. The participants will work in groups, taking on the role of managers and simulating the transactions and decisions of a bank, a micro-finance institutions and a small business. In so doing, the knowledge that they already have is applied directly and expanded by sharing experience with the other participants.”

According to Miss Phillips, the MBG workshop will then be extended to other micro-entrepreneurs and members of the public when such training takes place in March. In December last year, CED exposed a number of stakeholder agencies to the MBG.

The presentations will be conducted by CED’s Keisha Phillips and Nisha Glasgow, both of whom have been trained as trainers in the “Micro Business Game” under the SBFIC project.
