The final examination of the Caribbean Primary Exit Assessment (CPEA) concluded on Friday, May 18th, 2018. Of the 1846 students registered, 1837 wrote the final examination.
The preliminary results indicate that the proportion of students who met the prescribed standard was 1606 (87.43%), an increase of 2.08% over last year’s 85.35%.
Christian Gieowarsingh of the Kingstown Preparatory School emerged as this year's top student at the CPEA examinations with an average of 95%.
Makaya Gumbs of the Georgetown Government School placed second with 94.20%.
There was a three-way tie for third place between: Oneil Sprott of the Kingstown Preparatory School, Krista Williams of the Troumaca Government School and Azaria Commissiong of the Windsor Primary School.
Azaria Commissiong of the Windsor Primary and Kiara Hazell of the Lower Bay Primary School secured 100% in Language Arts.
Radelia Grant of the Bequia Anglican Primary School obtained the highest score in Mathematics with an average of 94.67%.
The Calliaqua Anglican School and the Layou Government School also secured passes in the top 10 positions. The parents, teachers and students all expressed their excitement having secured such high passes.
