Several students throughout the country were recognised for their achievements in the Schools Co-operative Program, during the National Schools Co-operative Awards Ceremony.

 

The ceremony was hosted by the Ministry of National Mobilisation‘s Co-operative Department, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, National Reconciliation and Ecclesiastical Affairs.

 

Hon. Frederick Stephenson, Minister of National Mobilisation, said in his address at the Awards Ceremony, that since the inception of the program in 1978 it has grown significantly and it is one of the flagship programs in his Ministry.

 

Minister Frederick said that there is currently over 11,000 students, both in the primary and secondary schools, throughout the country who are actively involved in the Schools Co-operative Saving Program.  He also noted that savings have increased during the 2015-2016 period in comparison to the 2014-2015 period.

 

Mr. Cecil Jackson, Registrar of Co-operatives said that the ceremony is held to show appreciation to the students and teacher guides for their achievements under the program.
