Hon. Luke Browne, Minister of Health, Wellness and the Environment, appealed to Vincentians to make an effort to familiarize themselves with the signs and symptoms of mental illness, so that they can refer others to receive medical assistance.

The appeal was made during an address to mark World Mental Health Day, which was observed on Monday, 10th October, under the theme: "Dignity In Mental Health, Psychological & Mental Health First Aid For All".

Minister Browne said that a number of persons may be struggling with mental health issues and are not aware of this. He added that the Ministry of Health is taking steps to ensure that it receives the medical assistance needed at its, soon to be re-opened, psychiatric hospital, in communities and elsewhere.
