Welcome to the official website of the Government of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

Prime Minister Dr. Hon. Ralph Gonsalves has highlighted the significance of the (Community of Latin American and Caribbean States) VIII CELAC Summit declaration, spanning almost 100 paragraphs which he says still requires some editing, as a pivotal step towards uplifting the lives of people across the 33 represented nations, including Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

Speaking at a press conference held at Cabinet Room earlier today (March 4th, 2024), Prime Minister Gonsalves expressed his satisfaction with the comprehensive nature of the declaration, which addresses key areas aimed at fostering positive development and cooperation among the member nations. He stressed the potential positive impact on the lives of citizens and residents, highlighting the commitment of each nation to shared goals.

An additional poignant moment during the session was the homage paid by the Honduras delegation to the national hero of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Paramount Chief Joseph Chatoyer. Dr. Gonsalves commended this gesture and acknowledged the separate ceremony held at the obelisk in Dorsetshire Hill, housing the monument and resting place of Chief Joseph Chatoyer.

Speaking in the aftermath of the historic event, Prime Minister Gonsalves urged all Vincentians to maintain the cleanliness, warmth, and welcoming spirit of the nation. As Saint Vincent and the Grenadines prepares to host various activities, including the upcoming Cricket World Cup in June 2024, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of uplifting the nation's image.

"SVG has a lot of activities ahead, and we have to continue to lift our game, separate and apart from Carnival and Nine Mornings," the Prime Minister stated. Gonsalves encouraged citizens to take pride in their role as hosts and ambassadors, showcasing the warmth and hospitality that characterizes Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. He also expressed optimism about the future collaborations and positive outcomes resulting from the CELAC declaration, affirming the nation's commitment to regional cooperation and development.
