The Governments of St. Vincent and the Grenadines and the Republic of Ecuador signed a Visa Waiver Agreement on Tuesday 19th July, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs conference room.


The agreement was signed by Non-Resident Ambassador of the Republic of Ecuador to St. Vincent and the Grenadines, His Excellency Galo Yepez Holguin and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, the Honourable Sir Louis Straker.


The Visa Waiver Agreement will encourage the ease of travel between both countries for business and pleasure while strengthening the bilateral relations.


His Excellency Galo Yepez Holguin said that the signing of this Visa Waiver Agreement will facilitate easy travel between both countries, thus boosting the tourism and business sectors. Ambassador Yepez also said that he is happy for this move and expressed gratitude to Prime Minister, Hon. Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, for this initiative. He noted that St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Ecuador have established a common path towards the development of both countries.


Ambassador Yepez added that Ecuador has collaborated with St. Vincent and the Grenadines on a number of projects and activities, which demonstrates the growing friendship between both countries. He thanked the Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines for its assistance following the earthquake, which struck Ecuador some three months ago, and for the 'Teach English Caribbean Program', where 44 Ecuadorian teachers came to St. Vincent and the Grenadines to improve their English proficiency and pedagogical skills.
