The National Public Library invites children between the aged 5 - 12 years to participate in its CLAP FOR FUN Program from 18th July to 5th August under the theme “Around the world in 15 days”. Activities will be held on Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the National Public Library at Richmond Hill.

 


The Program is designed to:

  • Promote and encourage reading.
  • Identify ethnic groups within the Vincentian society.
  • Promote social interactions and develop cognitive abilities through art and craft.
  • Expose the participants to the culture and literature of the groups.

 

In attendance will be representatives from the Taiwanese and Venezuelan Embassies, who will explain their culture and provide samples of their food. The Garifuna Heritage Foundation and the Indian heritage foundation will also be in attendance.

 

Children will be taught the Maypole, the Quadrille and Punta Dance. The children will also be involved in Library Time, Art and Craft, Scavenger Hunt, Field Trips, Storytelling, and Remedial Reading.

 

The National Public Library is kindly requesting coverage of the opening ceremony which begins  at 9:30 a.m. at the National Public Library’s Reference Section on 18th July.  Also, the Department is soliciting assistance to inform and invite the other media houses to provide coverage of the aforementioned.
