The Director of the Environmental Management Department, Ms. Janeel Miller-Findlay, has welcomed the launch of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines component of the Japan Caribbean Climate Change Partnership Project. The project is being carried out by the United Nations Development Program, through its sub-regional office for Barbados and the OECS.
Yoko Ebi-sawa, the Project Manager for the Japan Caribbean Climate Change Project, in a brief overview of the project, said that it is being funded by the government of Japan with a total of US$15 million, earmarked for eight Caribbean islands to help with climate change adaptation and mitigation.
