Several underprivileged women and children in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines are to benefit from a quantity of items donated to the Ministry of National Mobilisation, Social Development, and family etc, by the SimplyHelp Foundation from the Republic of China (Taiwan).

The donation which was made in collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) was distributed to several organisations through the Ministry. The handing over ceremony was held at the Arnos Vale Sporting Complex conference room on September 13, 2019.

Expressing his gratitude towards the Republic of China (Taiwan) and the SimplyHelp Foundation for their unwavering support over the years, Minister of National Mobilisation, Social Development, Family, Gender Affairs and Persons with Disabilities and Youth, Hon. Frederick Stephenson indicated that the deepened relationship between the ROC and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is just over 40 years.  Minister Stephenson noted that the Ministry will be selecting more persons who are in need of these items.

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of National Mobilisation, Nerissa Gittens-McMillan extended her appreciation on behalf of the Ministry for the timely donation; and disclosed that one of the major targets of the Ministry is that of assisting vulnerable groups.  McMillan also emphasised that as a Ministry they strive to be efficient and accountable since transparency is a fundamental part of their operations.

Ambassador to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, H. E. Calvin Ho said the SimplyHelp Foundation which is a US based non-governmental organisation has been in existence almost 20 years and has been making significant contributions worldwide.

Items included in the donation are: clothes, shoes, flashlights, medical equipment, books and radios.  At the ceremony representatives of organisations such as the Joy View Home Care, SVG Home Help organisation, The Division of Sports, Parenting, Single Parent and Teen mother’s programmes, and the Ministry of Education were on hand to receive the donations.
