The Inland Revenue Department has embarked on its Annual Tax Awareness Period, as the date for filing returns draws near.

Comptroller of Inland Revenue, Kelvin Pompey says the public outreach activities during the month of March are being held under the theme: “Taxation for you, Taxation for me, let’s make it work for SVG”.

Mr. Pompey says the Tax Awareness period is being used to educate and inform taxpayers, given the nature and complexity of taxation.

Mr. Pompey says training sessions are among the activities planned for the month.

The Inland Revenue Department says it would be focusing on compliance with regard to third party taxes, during this tax period.

This effort forms part of activities being held under its annual tax outreach program this month, under the theme: “Taxation for you, Taxation for me, let’s make it work for SVG”.

Comptroller of the Department Kelvin Pompey tells NBC news that they would be focusing on compliance this year, as they have seen an increase in delinquency in PAYE and Value Added Tax (VAT).
