A number of Health Professionals, including Physicians, Pharmacists, and Family Nurse Practitioners, met on Thursday 3rd August, to hold discussions on updating the SVG Essential Medicines list.

The Pharmacy and Therapeutic Committee, in collaboration with the Pan American Health Organisation, hosted the seminar at the Methodist Church Hall in Kingstown.

The session was held to focus on updating the SVG Essential Medicines list, which was established in 2010.

In his address at the opening ceremony, Hon. Luke Browne, Minister of Health, highlighted the importance of the exercise, which includes therapeutical options that they might need to consider, and changing needs and medicines available for emerging diseases that were not yet on the radar.

Mr. Francis Burnett, Head of Unit at the OECS Pharmaceutical Procurement Service, said a decision has to be made about which medicines are needed in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and the OECS.
