Notice is hereby given of the publication of the Child Justice Bill 2018, and an explanatory note on this website, www.pmoffice.gov.vc, and also at www.gov.vc, and www.legal.gov.vc.

 The Bill, which is currently before a Select Committee of the House of Assembly, will establish a judicial process for children accused of committing offences, that aims at protecting the rights of children, and provide for other related matters. The provisions of the Bill are founded on the OECS Model Child Justice Legislation, an initiative of the OECS Family Law Reform Project.

In accordance with the state’s international obligations, the Bill will introduce significant reform in the area of family law and the delivery of social services. It is important therefore, that members of the public review the Bill as it will considerably change some aspects of the current law, please provide any feedback you may have in writing, by post or hand delivery, to:
