Saint Vincent and the Grenadines commemorated Remembrance Day 2017 with a parade on Sunday, 12th November, at the Cenotaph in Kingstown. 

Over 100 years has passed since the first and second World Wars.

To commemorate the day, the Governor General, Members of Cabinet, Parliament, and the Diplomatic Corps, representatives of the church and uniformed bodies, the Royal Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force and Coast Guard, were present to pay their respects.  

His Excellency, Sir Frederick Ballantyne, Governor General; laid the first wreath at the base of the Cenotaph.  Minister of National Mobilisation, Hon. Frederick Stephenson, laid a wreath of behalf of Prime Minister, Hon. Dr. Ralph Gonsalves.  Other members of the Judiciary, Cabinet, Parliament, Diplomatic Corps, churches, and uniformed bodies, also laid wreaths.

Prayers were offered by Mrs. Rosemarie Alleyne of the Anglican Church, Reverend Stilson Cato of the Methodist Church, Father Peter Okonkwo of the Catholic Church, and Major Pierre Antoine of the Salvation Army.

In the “Exhortation to Remembrance”, President of the Saint Vincent Legion B.C.E.L, reminded the gathering that those who died did not grow old nor weary.  He closed with the assertion that, “We will remember them.”
