The Ministry of Tourism, Sports and Culture, hosted a press conference to update the general public on a number of subject matters; today, Tuesday, 19th October, at the conference room of the Murray Heights Hotel.

Information disseminated at the press conference indicated that the stay-over tourism figures by air for July, 2017, recorded an 8.9% increase over the 2016 period. The USA and Canada, two of SVG's main sources of tourism, showed improvement in visitor arrivals within that same time period. Improvement was also seen among visitors from other Caribbean islands.

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG), as a tourism product, was featured in the October edition of popular Canadian magazine 'Melange magazine'. (To view a copy of this magazine, please click here.

The audience was encouraged to promote SVG as a tourist destination by starting to extend hospitality to both tourists and fellow locals.

The next cruise season is set to begin on 26th October and it was reported that there will be an increase in the number of calls for the season.  Over 300 calls are expected. It is said that a 4000-capacity vessel is expected to make several calls to our shores during the season.

Sunwing Airlines out of Canada, has already confirmed scheduled flights to and from SVG, beginning in October. Meanwhile, Air Canada, is expected to commence scheduled flights in December this year.


November is said to be Tourism Month, and a press conference has been scheduled for 31st October, to disseminate information on same. During the month, the Hope playing field would be opened on Sunday, 5th November.

There will also be an inaugural National Lotteries Authority (NLA), SVG Masters Cricket Festival. Among the participating teams would be teams from Trinidad and Tobago, New York and Grenada. It will commence on Thursday 26th October. The venues will be Arnos Vale one, Sion Hill and Cumberland playing fields. The winning team would receive USD3500.
