Welcome to the official website of the Government of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

A number of local agencies have come together to present Vincentians with a unique experience during the month of October when Saint Vincent and the Grenadines celebrates its 38th Anniversary of Independence. The initiative is dubbed ‘Everything Vincy Independence Festival’ and will stage a range of activities from motorsports, music and merchandise over a nine-day period, from 21st to 29th October.

The major partners who have collaborated to launch the Everything Vincy Independence Festival include SVG Motorsports, the Department of Culture, Invest SVG, The Center for Enterprise Development, National Properties, SVG AMP and the SVG Motorcycle Club.

Speaking at the media launch of the Festival on 26th September, Chairman of the Steering Committee Sanja Jiandani, who is also President of Vincy Motorsports, outlined a packed nine days of activities which he said would boost celebration of this country’s Independence.

He said that the official opening ceremony of the festival would take place on 21st October at the E. T. Joshua Airport, Arnos Vale, followed by two days of racing on the runway and go-carting on the apron, adding that a number of regional partners will come in to celebrate SVG’s Independence. The Committee has dubbed 23rd October as ‘National Colours Day’ and are asking persons to dress in the national colors on this day ahead of the Independence parade day which takes place on the 27th.

Minister of Tourism and Culture,  Hon. Cecil McKie, has applauded the initiative, and those involved, for hosting the Everything Vincy Independence Festival. Minister McKie said that SVG is a unique destination with its thirty-two islands and cays, and that the Festival will help to boost the destination, especially during the month of October, which he said has become increasingly important to the country’s tourism product.

As part of the Festival, Invest SVG will mount an Expo at the E. T. Joshua Airport following the Military parade on 27th October. The Expo will feature a full cast of local businesses and will run until the 29th. Also following the Military Parade, the Motorcycle Club will embark on an island ride from Kingstown to Georgetown and on October 28th, there will be a drift racing event at the Diamond race Track. The SVG Association of Music Professionals has pledged to reinforce the various activities with nothing but local Vincy music.
