Welcome to the official website of the Government of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

The Gender Affairs Division condemns violence of any kind because violence is an infringement of a person’s right. Despite much progress, domestic violence remains amongst the greatest challenges of our times.

Fed by deeply embedded discrimination against women and girls, it undercuts peace and restricts the quality of life for those involve. Not only it is wrong and costly, it also undermines efforts to achieving development goals, and increases gaps for access and fulfillment of women’s rights. Ending it should be foremost amongst all citizens of St Vincent and the Grenadines. There is no room for complacency.

Over the last month, gruesome acts of violence have marred the efforts of Community Based Organizations, Faith Based Organizations, Civil society and all. To have taken the life of an innocent person is not only wicked, it is dastardly and heartless.

Additionally, there is need for a stronger stand against the rise in gender–related killings. The Gender Affairs Division, and by extension the Ministry of National Mobilisation, is issuing a call for all and sundry to respond to violence of all sort by “Saying No To Violence”

Violence prevention and response must be acknowledged as equally important and a shared responsibility among individuals, families, communities and the state.

To this end, it is essential that there be a transformation of perception, attitudes and behaviors which promote and justify violence, in private and public institutions. The Gender Affairs Division is issuing a call for persons to seek professional help in light of their problems.

If you need help contact the Ministry at telephone numbers 1-784-453-2061, 456-2948 or 61111 ext 395/396.
