WEST ST. GEORGE CONSTITUENTS CLEANS GREAT HEAD BEACH
The West St. George Beautification team comprising Yes Workers has been cleaning the Great Head beach for three weeks now.
Sunday 28th January was a special day where the public joined the beautification team in cleaning the beach. To date they have cleared an estimated seven to eight tons of garbage and debris and work is continuing.
The next phase is beautification of the entire area; where plans have been made to do regular clean up on a monthly basis. Parlimentary Representative Hon. Mike Browne expressed concern about the environment. He said that residents need to keep to rivers and streams free from garbage since these water ways empties on the beach. He also said that whenever there is major rainfall a tremendous amount of garbage is washed down on the beach.
Minister Browne expressed appreciation for the hard work done by the residents and the YES workers. He also asked for the continued support of the public. This is the third such clean up exercise undertaken by the group of this area since 2001.
