South Leeward Learning Resource Centre Opens
When operational this will be some of the activities enjoyed by the constituents of South Leeward in their Learning Resource Centre.
The Centre was officially opened on Monday evening. Residents of surrounding villages turned out in their numbers to witness the opening.
An elated Dr. Douglas Slater, Parliamentary representative for South Leeward told the residents that he was proud to be delivering the centre which they had had to wait so long for.
The centre, which is the 9th to be constructed,
Was funded by the government of Taiwan. Taiwanese Ambassador to St.Vincent and the Grenadines Jack-Yui Tai Cheng said the Resource Centre would provide a place for villager to gather and an opportunity for them to improve their skills.
Education Minister Girlyn Miguel said her Ministry was charged with assisting with the organisation of
programmes to be conducted at the centre.
The keynote address was delivered by PM Gonsalves. Dr. Gonsalves highlighted the vision his government had for the development of the Leeward side of the country.
Special attention was also paid to the evening’s guest of honour centenarian Dorcas Labbay.
Other centres are at present being built at Mespotamia, Biabou, West St. George and Barrouallie.
